Managing and monitoring the IP address space

Set the IP address of an organization can be classified into static and dynamic address spaces. Static addresses are assigned manually, and no change or be reassigned for long periods of time. Dynamic addresses are assigned through DHCP servers and are valid only for relatively short periods of time. Because static addresses are manually assigned, must be monitored and managed separately from dynamic addresses. Many organizations use spreadsheets or custom tools/scripts for managing static address space. Windows Server 2012 IPAM allows addressing static and dynamic through spaces in a single console. You can migrate existing static address of data from spreadsheets in IPAM. You can organize the blocks of address space - which are the largest units of the Directorate of internal space and planning assignment - range - which is the smallest unit of address space from which static and dynamic addresses are assigned.

This allows a structured global address space handling and easy viewing. IPAM allows you to define your own custom data fields and granted to IP address registries. For example, you can follow the place and the Department to which a range of IP addresses is assigned a. create two custom fields called 'Rental'
and "Department" and associate it with the IP address ranges. In addition, you can create logical groups of ranges of IP addresses based on fields integrated and customized to look up the address according to the logic of business space. For example, you can group ranges from 'rent' then by 'Department' first IP addresses. IPAM will then automatically control the IP address ranges in a hierarchy based on grouping criteria.

IPAM makes static address of very simple management. You can not only see the addresses used, where they are in use and the use of the static address space, but you can also find the following static address available, mark it as assigned to a particular device and update the DNS record corresponding to this device - all from the IPAM console.
